Hours and Admission
Mount Pisgah Arboretum is open from dawn to dusk, every day of the year. There is no entry fee to the Arboretum. However, we do ask for donations to attend special events such as walks & workshops and the Mushroom and Wildflower Festivals.
Parking
Lane County Parks charges a $2 parking fee per vehicle. You can purchase a one-day parking pass at the yellow vending machine along the entry road. There are also three types of annual passes accepted on site:
- Mount Pisgah Arboretum Members Parking Pass. This pass is one of the benefits of MPA membership. It is valid in the main terraced parking lot on the Arboretum site (near the West Trailhead), but not along the sides of the entry road. You can purchase an MPA membership through our website or by visiting the MPA office, open Monday-Friday from 10-4. This pass is not valid at the North or East Trailheads.
- Howard Buford Recreation Area Annual Pass. Sold by Lane County Parks for $20, this pass is valid in the main Arboretum parking lot (near the West Trailhead), along the entry road, and at the North and West Trailheads around the park. (Link to a PDF map of the HBRA). HBRA parking passes are available at the MPA office and many other locations.
- All Parks Annual Pass. This parking pass is good at all of Lane County Parks, and is valid for parking in the main Arboretum parking lot (near the West Trailhead), the entry roads, and North and West trailheads. All Parks passes are available at the MPA office as of March 2010. You can also purchase them for $30 at many other locations.
Bicycles
Visitors arriving by bike do not have to pay any parking or day-use fees. (You can save the planet and save cash at the same time!)
There are bike racks in two locations on site: near the parking circle at the south end of the parking lot, and by the base of the west trailhead.
Bike riding is not allowed on the trails in the Arboretum. Bring your bike lock so you can explore the trails on foot at your leisure.
What bike routes can you use to get to Mount Pisgah?
For a short ride, take any of the local buses to Lane Community College. It's just a 4 mile ride from the bus stop there, mostly flat.
Up for a longer ride? Here's a mostly-flat 8-mile route from downtown Eugene to the Arboretum. Be alert when riding along Franklin Blvd, the cars go fast and some sections have narrow shoulder.
Like climbing hills? The ride from south Eugene over 30th Avenue has wide shoulders that are nice and debris-free. Put it in your lowest gear and enjoy the view!

(See it on Google Maps)
Coming from Springfield? Lack of bridges across the river means you'll have to come south on Franklin Boulevard to the west entrance of the park. Again, be alert around the fast traffic along Franklin.

Dogs
Going for a hike can be extra fun when accompanied by “man’s best friend.” While we welcome dogs, all dog owners are reminded that leashes are always required on the Arboretum grounds. There are many important reasons for this leash rule, including:
• Keeping wildlife safe. Dogs are carnivores by instinct, and can cause serious harm to small animals that live on site, especially ground-nesting birds.
• Keeping dogs safe. Off-leash dogs can get into fights with other dogs on the trail, get lost in the woods (no joke!), and even be injured by wildlife they encounter along the trail. Remember, this is mountain lion territory.
• Keeping people safe. Our hikers come in all ages and abilities. Not everyone is spry enough to safely leap out of the way of a galloping pup!
Heading over the hill? In the larger Howard Buford Recreation Area that surrounds the Arboretum, leashes are required on Trail 1 and Trail 2. Dogs must be under voice command on all other trails.
