Back in the 1970s, a group of visionary citizens looked at what was then an abandoned farm, choked with blackberries, and saw the natural beauty and amazing potential of this special place. Decades of hard work by volunteers and financial support from members and supporters have created the Arboretum we now know and love.

The Arboretum has been creating community in nature for more than 40 years. We depend on the generosity of our nearly 2000 members and the dedicated efforts of hundreds of volunteers to sustain the outdoor education programs, public facilities, habitats ,trails, and events that have made the Arboretum so important to our community. We hope you’ll join us as a member, donate to keep our programs running, or contribute your time as a volunteer.
