Discovery Tours

Field Trips

Our Discovery Tours Program, established in 1981, is the longest running environmental education program of its kind in Lane County. Each spring and fall, 3,000 Kindergarten through 5th grade students explore the Arboretum with trained Nature Guide volunteers. Seven miles of groomed trails, running through some of the best examples of Southern Willamette Valley native ecosystems, provide a safe and welcoming space to expose students to the outdoors and spark a lifetime of curiosity. Our hands on field trips incorporate inquiry and connect to Next Generation Science Standards. Email Sara Spoden to schedule a field trip. For trip details click here.

Family Walks and Scheduled Group Tours

We have weekend walks that are geared toward families with children. View our calendar of events. We also provide guided walks for youth groups. We can tailor the focus and timing of the walk to the needs of your group. We can also schedule recurring walks for groups. Send an email to Sara Spoden to schedule a group tour.

Camps

The Arboretum’s Summer Club runs on either Tuesdays or Wednesdays from late June – end of August. Our partners, Whole Earth Nature School, and Nearby Nature, run full day summer camps, spring break camps and no-school day programs at the Arboretum. These camps are a great way for kids to explore the Arboretum when school’s out. Contact our partners directly to learn about camp opportunities!
